Las Vegas GP Organisers Plan Grand Celebration if Verstappen Wins F1 Title on the Strip

As Max Verstappen looks to secure another Formula 1 world championship at next week’s Las Vegas Grand Prix, the anticipation builds for what could be an unforgettable celebration on the iconic Las Vegas Strip. The Las Vegas Strip Circuit hosted its inaugural Grand Prix last year, which was not only a financial triumph but also a thrilling sporting spectacle as Verstappen claimed victory in a race filled with 99 overtakes.

High Stakes in the Desert

This year, the stakes are even higher. Verstappen’s recent win in Brazil has positioned him to potentially clinch his fourth successive drivers’ championship in Las Vegas. Should the Red Bull Racing driver take the chequered flag, he will be crowned world champion again. His closest contender, Lando Norris, must outscore Verstappen by at least three points to keep the title contest alive until the Qatar Grand Prix.

Conversations have already taken place between race organisers and Red Bull to discuss potential ways to celebrate Verstappen’s achievement. Renee Wilm, CEO of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, confirmed their readiness for such an occasion. “I’m sure that we would be able to pull some ideas out of our hat, maybe pre-arrange some pretty exciting opportunities,” she told Autosport.

A Stage Fit for a Champion

Wilm highlighted the opulence of the Las Vegas Strip, mentioning venues like Wynn, Encore, and the Bellagio with its iconic fountains, as perfect backdrops for celebrating a champion. This luxury, combined with the glamour of the city, could make for a fitting stage if Verstappen clinches the title.

In anticipation of the championship-deciding race, additional general admission tickets have been released, replacing previous hospitality-focused areas, ensuring fans can experience the spectacular event while maintaining an exclusive VIP feel. Last year, over 316,000 fans attended, despite some early frustrations when a drain cover incident during the first practice session resulted in significant delays and spectator removal.

Excitement in the Air

With the championship on the line, a surge in ticket sales is expected as fans look to join celebrities for the second Las Vegas GP. Wilm emphasised the impact of the championship battle on the US market. “The fact that the championship is still up for grabs is incredibly influential, particularly in the US market,” she explained.

American fans, known for their love of spirited competition, could bring an extra buzz, with so many drivers reaching the podium throughout the season. Wilm expressed confidence in the luxurious appeal of Las Vegas, stating, “I’ve always said it’s the perfect marriage of speed and glamour in Las Vegas.”

The Perfect Party Venue

If Verstappen delivers another stellar performance, Las Vegas, known as the Entertainment Capital of the World, would be the perfect venue to host the grand after-party. The red carpet events teaming with celebrities add to the allure of the race, making the Las Vegas GP one of the most sought-after tickets in the Formula 1 calendar.
